“Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.”

– Thomas Huxley

In This Episode

You, someone who clearly appreciates listening to podcasts, are going to hear about THREE of my favorite podcasts. The ones I make sure I’m listening to every time they publish a new episode. Please realize, there are other great podcasts which I love, all about marketing, sales, but these are the ones I believe you would benefit from, give you listen to mine.

The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes

This is a podcast, must like mine, focused on encouraging and coaching you to be the best possible person you could ever be in life.  Not just about business, but about you being the best total person possible.  This means your mindset, business, discipline, fitness, well-being and more.  It’s about being great in life.

Lewis is a former professional football player who was injured early in his career and faced a person crisis.  As he layed on the couch trying to heal, he looked for other routes to greatness and found them in the world of Internet Marketing.

Today, Lewis has created one of the most passionate followings online and for good reason.  Each episode of his School of Greatness is full of lessons about how life can throw us whatever it wants, but it’s up to us to react to them in the best way possible.  We can’t control what happens to us, but we can control how we react to what happens.

My Favorite Episodes

Here are a few of the episodes that have resonated with me the most.  I encourage you to listen to Lewis and his School of Greatness and find out which ones work for you.  We’re all different.

You’ll find all of these episodes listed on iTunes as “The School of Greatness.

Bryan Bishop: Surviving the Brain Tumor That Tried to Kill Him

Bryan works on the Adam Carolla show as one of his side-kicks.  In this episode he shares the shocking experience of learning that he had an inoperable brain tumor and his determination to overcome it in spite of the dower attitude of his doctor.

If you’ve had to deal with health issues, I strongly recommend you listen to this episode.

What Sharing My Childhood Rape Taught Me About Being a Loving, Vulnerable, Free Man.

This is one of the most transparent and honest podcasts you’ll ever hear.  A leader in the internet marketing world shares his most vulnerable moment in his life.  He opens up and talks how he reacted to this trauma and what he did to hide it for years.  It wasn’t until he finally started to open up about his rape that he started to heal and grow.

If you know someone who has been through sexual abuse (odds are you do), at the very least, make sure you’re listening to this.  If you can, try to share it with them as well.

Lewis sets aside the shame too many victims feel and focuses on the victory he has experienced after dealing with his reality in a very healthy way.

What Four Years in Prison Taught Me About The Human Spirit

This is an amazing journey into the trauma and victory a family experienced after Lewis’ brother, a world class Jazz violinist, got mixed up in the world of illegal drugs and was sentenced to many years in prison.

This is a conversation with a man who had everything going for him and made one mistake which ended it all.  Not only that, but it’s an enlightening examination of the view his younger brother, Lewis Howes, had of this entire event.  A story of hope, mistakes, heartache and eventual victory, I’m certain you’ll connect with this episode.

Sean Stephenson: How To Leave People Breathless

Wow! This is my favorite episode of just about any podcast to which I’ve listened.  Sean is a giant man who speaks from a voice of victory and overcoming.  Sean doesn’t “look” like he sounds in his podcast.  A champion and an overcomer, Sean will inspire you and bring you to several “Ah Ha!” moments.

Sean has lived a life overcoming a brutal disease which left him with incredibly brittle bones.  It was so bad, he would even fracture them just rolling over as a child.  In fact, Sean ended up with over 200 broken bones in his body.  Today, he’d want him to lead the charge in front of you, regardless of the battle you’re about to face.
