“Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.”

– Napoleon Hill

In This Episode

We’re going to look at the source of much frustration for many people. When you’ve come up with a brilliant idea, put in massive amounts of work and still have to do it again tomorrow.  Success isn’t just about great ideas and doing hard work today, but about doing it consistently over time.

You’ve Got a Great Idea

We know great things come to great thinkers, but not only that, great things come FROM great thinkers as well.  When you give the Universe your best, the Universe gives you it’s best.  But, success doesn’t just come to those who have great ideas.

You have to put in hard work to go from a great idea to a great product or service. Still, after putting in this hard work, you have to do even more work to make sure your potential customers or clients know what you’ve created.

You’ve Worked Really Hard Today

Knowing that success isn’t just about great ideas, you’ve put in a massive amount of work today and it’s paid off.  You’ve finished several projects and you’re feeling great. In fact, you’ve probably done this on several occasions and you’ve made some great strides.

Congratulations, you’ve done exactly what needs to be done (in a general sense) to find success in this life. So, why isn’t it happening yet?

You know your idea is one of the best yet and you’re exhausted from all the work you’ve put into it.  This is the point where a lot of people get frustrated and blame their lack of success on “bad luck.”

Do It Again Tomorrow

This probably isn’t what you wanted to hear, because you’re still a little worn out from yesterday’s hard work, but this is exactly what you need to do. Success comes from creativity mixed with honest effort applied consistently over time. But, how much time? When will it happen? How long will I have to do this before I finally achieve the success others have in their lives?

Body Building and Mountain Climbing

If your goal was to be a World Champion Bodybuilder, you’d have to come up with a workout plan and a diet regimen, then head to the gym and do some heavy lifting.  After you’re done with this, a quick look into the mirror will probably leave you feeling disappointed.

You’ve done the work, you’ve eaten right and you’ve still not reached your goal. You know, it doesn’t matter how great your workout plan, how strict your diet, and how hard you worked today, you have to let time does it’s magic.

The same principle applies to climbing to the top of a mountain.  You can have the best guide, the straightest path, world class equipment and even take an incredibly large and strenuous first step, but you’re not going to reach the peak until you commit to doing it again and again.

Success Comes to Those Who Persevere

Truthfully, more times than not, this is the “magic pill” which determines whether you join the elite at the top or remain being frustrated in the middle or even worse, struggling at the bottom.

Persevere and continue on with what you did right yesterday and you will eventually reach the top.

Take another step today, slap on some more weight and do another curl, call another potential customer and don’t give up.

Fall in Love with The Journey

This is why it’s vital you discover your Soul Desire in life.  You have to find what it is you love doing and do that over and over again.

Too often we focus on what we’d love to have and the work it takes to get there isn’t something we enjoy, so we continue give up and quit.

When you discover the work that resonates within your soul, the work no longer feels like work and the journey appears to become a lot shorter.  This is when you finally achieve your goals and you feel peace within your spirit.

Hi Desmond, loved the podcast and love the concept of letting the cake bake. I work with unemployed clients looking to get back into work and recently we have started to focus on developing the right mindset. Before this if people were not getting work it was easy to blame the tools, “the cv isn’t good enough” or “not doing well at an interview”. Now focussing on getting the mindset right we are seeing greater resilience and continued persistence. “Letting the cake bake” is a great concept because people often forget that even with all the right tools and saying the right things, it still takes time to see our goals manifest in the way that we want them to, and that trying to fast track or change the recipe will change the outcome. Thank you so much for sharing, you are an inspiration
